Matt Lively lives in Richmond, Virginia and is experienced working across various mediums such as sculpture, painting, and installation murals. He has also worked on films as well as illustrated books. He attended Virginia Commonwealth University and graduated with a BFA in sculpture in 1993.

His work has been exhibited both nationally and internationally. He also teaches at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts Studio School.
