Richard John Haas (born August 29, 1936) is an artist best known his large scale architectural trompe-l'œil murals.

Originally from Wisconsin, Haas began creating large-scale outdoor murals in 1970s New York City, during a time when the city was in a steep downturn.

Since that time, he has been commissioned to create both exterior and interior murals for numerous public and private buildings throughout the United States as well as in Germany.

Haas' spectacular artwork has received awards from the American Institute of Architects, Guggenheim Fellowship, National Endowment of Arts, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Jimmy Ernst, American Academy of Arts and Letters. In 1993, he was elected as an Associate member of the National Academy of Design and became a full Academician in 1994. He subsequently served as President of the Academy from 2009 to 2011.
