Daniel Hauben (born May 23, 1956) studied at the Museum School in Boston, MA and received a BFA from the School of Visual Arts in NYC. He is a accomplished painter and lifelong resident of the Bronx (one of the five boroughs of New York City). In his work he mainly focuses on painting street scenes within his neighborhood and borough but has also painted outdoors throughout the world. He works in a wide variety of mediums including oils, textural oil relief, chalk pastel, etchings, bronze, cast paper, plaster, and glass.

Hauben's work can be found in many public, private, and corporate fine art collections including the Library of Congress, the White House, the Museum of the City of New York, the New York Public Library, the New York Historical Society, Pfizer Corporation, and Harvard University.

Throughout his artistic career he has had multiple solo exhibitions worldwide.

Hauben was commissioned by the New York City Metropolitan Transportation Authority to create artwork for the 2 & 5 elevated subway train line at the Freeman Street station in the Bronx. The work consists of six faceted, one inch thick colored glass panels held together with epoxy depicting various local street scenes. The work was recognized as one of the top 40 works of public art in the US for 2007.

In 2008, Hauben was commissioned to design and create twenty-two large paintings depicting scenes of the Bronx for the North Instructional Building and Library of Bronx Community College.
